The government has expressed its willingness to find a solution, and Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’Brien has emphasised the need for a debate on the Manipur situation. On Thursday at 1 pm, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar called a meeting of leaders to discuss a way out of the House’s impasse.

The Chairman stated that because he had already made a decision, he was unable to grant the opposition members’ request for a discussion on the Manipur violence under Rule 267. The debate under Rule 176 will not be limited to 2.5 hours, according to Dhankhar, and he will allot as much time as is necessary. However, his advice has not been implemented.
According to Derek O’Brien, the public wants to hear from the MPs and the opposition members want a conversation. He asserted that Manipur requires comfort.

Leader of House Piyush Goyal said the government has been proactive in its actions concerning the situation in Manipur and has been ready for a debate.
He said there should be a message of peace and stability in the state which has seen ethnic violence.
