Raju Jha, a BJP official, was shot dead by unidentified miscreants on Saturday evening in Shaktigrah, West Bengal’s Purba Bardhaman, according to police.
According to senior officials, the BJP leader, named as Raju Jha, a businessman from Durgapur, was on his way to Kolkata with some coworkers when he was attacked by unidentified people outside a confectionery store in the Shaktigarh area.

“There were three people in the vehicle, including Raju Jha. The accused’s motivation has yet to be determined. “Further investigation is being conducted,” said Bardhaman SP Kamnasis Sen.
According to police, Jha was rushed to a nearby hospital and pronounced deceased. The wounded people were being treated in a hospital.
He went on to say that the accused left the scene after the incident.
Jha was accused of running an illegal coal company in Silpanchal during the Left Front’s rule.

Several cases were also filed against him in the Trinamool administration.
In the presence of State President Dilip Ghosh, he joined the BJP ahead of the last assembly polls in December 2021.
Further investigation is ongoing, according to the police.
