On Thursday, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took to the campaign trail for BJP candidate Anil Antony, who is vying for victory in the Pathanamthitta constituency of Kerala. Anil Antony happens to be the son of esteemed Congress leader AK Antony. Expressing his astonishment, Rajnath Singh remarked on AK Antony’s unexpected stance, acknowledging his integrity while expressing surprise at his lack of support for his own son’s electoral bid.

During his address, Rajnath Singh commended AK Antony’s personal integrity while launching a scathing attack on the Congress party, citing numerous instances of corruption within its ranks that have led to several leaders facing imprisonment. Singh also criticized the Congress and CPI (M) for their conflicting stances, highlighting their alliance at the national level despite being rivals in Kerala. He pointed out the irony of Rahul Gandhi’s decision to contest from Wayanad in Kerala instead of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, and underscored the contradictory nature of Congress and Left party dynamics, where they compete in Kerala but collaborate in Delhi.

Singh ridiculed Rahul Gandhi, contrasting the BJP’s successful launches of Mangalyaan, Chandrayaan, and Adityayaan with the Congress’s failure to initiate its own ‘Rahulyaan’ in the past two decades. He emphasized the BJP’s plans to launch Gaganyaan within five years while highlighting the absence of a youthful leader emerging from the Congress ranks for two decades. Singh pointed out Rahul Gandhi’s electoral migration from Uttar Pradesh to Kerala, noting his failure to secure victory in Amethi previously and the apparent reluctance to contest from there again. He also remarked on the determination of the people of Wayanad to not elect Rahul as their Member of Parliament in the upcoming elections.
