On Sunday, the Rajasthan police’s special operations group arrested Ramu Ram Raika, a former member of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC), who had been suspended for allegedly providing his children with a leaked question paper for the 2021 sub-inspector recruitment exam. Raika, who served on the RPSC from 2018 to 2022, has been placed in police remand until September 7. His son and daughter, Devesh and Shobha, along with three trainee sub-inspectors—Manju Devi, Avinash Palsania, and Vijendra Kumar—have also been arrested.

The leak of the exam paper came to light in March, following a police crackdown on the 2021 sub-inspector and platoon commander recruitment exam. The police subsequently arrested around 38 individuals involved in the scandal.

In the wake of the leak, all members of the 2021 training batch at the Rajasthan Police Academy were required to retake the test. Sources indicate that their performance was notably poor, even on basic general knowledge questions.

An official noted that, despite not having negative marking in the retest, the candidates still underperformed. For example, Manju Devi, who had originally scored 183.75 in Hindi and 167.89 in general knowledge, managed only 52 correct answers in Hindi and 71 in general knowledge during the retest. Similarly, Vijendra Kumar, with initial scores of 168.28 in Hindi and 157.59 in general knowledge, could only answer 49 questions correctly in Hindi and 62 in general knowledge in the retest.

Raika’s children, Shobha and Devesh, had passed the exam with Shobha ranking fifth and Devesh ranking 40th.
