As Rajasthan gears up for Assembly elections on November 25, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed optimism about the Congress’ prospects, citing a strong undercurrent in favour of the ruling party. Gehlot, campaigning extensively, noted a pro-incumbency wave, attributing it to the success of Congress schemes and policies.

Addressing the electorate, Gehlot took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, emphasizing his Rajasthani roots. He urged voters to consider his regional connection over the campaigning by “two Gujaratis.”

Gehlot, anticipating victory, stated, “If this undercurrent works in our favour, we will form the government.” He criticized opposition leaders from Delhi for provoking people, contrasting their approach with the BJP’s failure to question Congress campaign promises.

In a video message, Congress leader Sachin Pilot also appealed to voters, predicting the party’s return to power with a majority and challenging the tradition of not re-electing the incumbent.

In the high-stakes Rajasthan elections in 2018, the Congress won 99 seats and formed the government, with Gehlot as Chief Minister. The upcoming elections will determine whether Congress can maintain its hold on the state or face a new political landscape.
