Noted film director S.S. Rajamouli of the Bahubali fame donated his plasma after recovering from Covid-19. After being hospitalised for about two weeks, he tweeted, “Completed 2 weeks of quarantine! No symptoms. Tested just for the sake of it. It is negative for all of us. Doctor said we need to wait 3 weeks from now to see if we’ve developed enough antibodies for plasma donation!”
After recovering he walked the talk by donating plasma at a programme organised by Hyderabad police. Rajamouli and his family members including music director Keeravani are now actively participating in awareness camps on coronavirus. Rajamouli said: “The objective of the campaign is to encourage people to come forward to donate plasma which can be used for the treatment corona patients. Plasma is the only solution until the vaccine is invented. Plasma donors are role models and myths should be busted.”
Another family member and music director Keeravani also participated in the plasma donation campaign and released his own song on plasma donation aimed at promoting plasma donation to save lives. Rajamouli reminded the importance of plasma donation and appealed to the people to come forward to donate plasma while taking part in a programme felicitated plasma donor at Cyberabad Police Commissionerate.
Cyberabad police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar conducted this awareness programme and felicitated the plasma donors. “Plasma Yodhas have saved the lives of patients and I thank their family members for support and encouragement. I request more recovered persons to come forward to donate their plasma,” he said.
Sajjanar said that Tollywood bigwigs like Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Vijay Devarakonda, Rajamouli and Keeravani have collaborated with police in taking forward the plasma donation initiative of the Cyberabad Police. Many voluntary organisations have been working together including young IT professionals to create awareness on Covid-19 and plasma donations.
