The Samajwadi Party and Congress will soon be seen on one platform. Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, along with SP president Akhilesh Yadav, will address a public meeting in Kannauj on May 10. Akhilesh is also contesting elections from Kannauj. Voting will take place in Kannauj on May 13. Along with this, preparations are also underway to hold a meeting in Kanpur on May 10.

Now the entire focus is on Uttar Pradesh. After filing nomination for the Kannauj Lok Sabha seat, Akhilesh had said, “Now everyone will come. Now the stage is set in UP. Despite limited joint campaigning between the alliances during the three phases of voting, the focus of the SP-Congress alliance has now increased on UP. A joint rally of Akhilesh and Rahul has been scheduled in Kannauj and Kanpur. Soon, dates for a joint rally in Barabanki and Mohanlalganj may also be announced.

Both will unite to demonstrate power. Despite the alliance between the SP and Congress, both parties have so far shown relatively less strength in their joint campaigning. However, with the focus shifting towards UP in the elections, particularly towards central and eastern UP, a new strategy for campaigning has begun. Sources indicate that so far, Rahul’s rallies have been more prominent in other parts of the country, hence he was unable to schedule dates for joint rallies. However, in the coming days, the focus will increase on UP.

According to information available from the state Congress office, rallies are planned in both Kannauj and Kanpur on May 10. Sources claim that rallies may also be held in Mohanlalganj and Barabanki on May 12. Akhilesh is contesting from Kannauj while Congress has its candidate in Kanpur.

The Mohanlalganj seat is in the SP’s account, while Congress has a candidate in Barabanki. There will also be a joint rally in Amethi and Rae Bareli.

After the joint rally in Kannauj, it is also speculated that there could be a joint rally of both leaders in Amethi and Rae Bareli. Rahul Gandhi is in the electoral fray from Rae Bareli, while Kishori Lal Sharma is the Congress candidate from Amethi, representing Sonia Gandhi’s parliamentary constituency. Sources suggest that the joint rally in Kannauj indicates the possibility of a joint rally in Rae Bareli as well.

However, the Congress has not officially commented on this matter yet. Tuesday witnessed the completion of voting for the third phase. So far, Rahul and Akhilesh have only held one joint rally in Amroha. Additionally, both leaders held a joint press conference in Ghaziabad.
