Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of fostering a divide in India where justice is influenced by wealth. He emphasized their battle against such injustices.

“Narendra Modi is creating two Indias – where even justice is dependent on wealth,” Rahul Gandhi posted on X.

Referring to the Pune rash driving incident, where two individuals lost their lives, Gandhi highlighted the disparity in treatment between the rich and the poor. He pointed out that while the accused from a wealthy family received bail, bus or auto drivers in similar situations would face severe penalties, such as a ten-year prison sentence.

“Bus driver, Truck driver, Ola, Uber, and auto drivers.. If they mistakenly kill somebody… then they are sentenced to ten years in prison. and throw away the key. But if a 17-year-old boy belonging to a rich family is driving a Porsche car under the influence of alcohol and kills two people, He is asked to write in a particular way,” Gandhi said in a video message posted on his official social media account.

Gandhi recounted a question posed to Modi about the creation of two Indias—one for the rich and one for the poor. Modi responded, “Should I make all the people poor.” Gandhi stressed the need for equal justice for all, rich or poor, which is the essence of their fight against injustice.

The accident, occurring early Sunday morning near Kalyani Nagar in Pune, claimed the lives of Ashwini Koshta and Aneesh Awadhia after a luxury car collided with their motorcycle. In response, the Pune Excise Department sealed Cosie Bar and Black Bar, which allegedly served alcohol to the minor involved in the incident.

The minor driver was apprehended but later granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated that they are seeking permission to try the juvenile as an adult. Additionally, three other accused in the case were remanded to police custody until May 24 by a special court in Pune.
