Qatar has strongly condemned the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the Head of Hamas’s Political Bureau, who was killed in an attack in Tehran, Iran. Haniyeh was in the Iranian capital to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s new president when he was targeted.

In a statement, the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the killing a “heinous crime” and a blatant violation of international and humanitarian law. The ministry emphasized that such acts of violence and the reckless targeting of civilians would only lead to further chaos in the region and diminish prospects for peace.

The statement further affirmed Qatar’s firm opposition to violence, terrorism, and criminal acts, including political assassinations, regardless of their motives. The country extended its condolences to Haniyeh’s family, the State of Palestine, and its people.

In addition to Qatar, several other nations have condemned the assassination. Pakistan expressed its condolences and condemned terrorism in all forms, including extrajudicial killings. Turkey also denounced the attack, accusing the Israeli government of escalating the conflict and expressing support for the Palestinian cause.

This incident has sparked widespread international condemnation and has been seen as a dangerous escalation in an already volatile region.
