Indian star shuttler and Olympic medalist PV Sindhu won the Singapore Open 2022 title by defeating Wang Zhiyi of China in the women’s singles final on Sunday. Playing on one court, Sindhu won the finals by 21-9, 11-21, and 21-15.

Sindhu started well and won the first game by a considerable margin. Zhiyi made a similar comeback in the next round and won the second set 11-21. Indian shuttler PV Sindhu won the deciding set 21-15 to clinch the Singapore Open 2022 title.

After winning the game, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated PV Sindhu and said, “I congratulate PV Sindhu on winning her first ever Singapore Open title. She has yet again demonstrated her exceptional sporting talent and achieved success. It is a proud moment for the country and will also give inspiration to the upcoming player.”

PV Sindhu entered the women’s singles summit clash of the Singapore Open 2022 after defeating Saena Kawakami of Japan in the semi-finals in Singapore on Saturday. Sindhu was at her most dominant position in the game as PV Sindhu defeated Japanese Saena Kawakami 15-21, 7-21 in two straight games. The match lasted 58 minutes.

Moreover, after winning the Singapore Open 2022 title, PV Sindhu said, “So, it was very crucial where I maintained the lead and maintained those two points. I am happier because coming to Singapore after so long and winning the title really means a lot to me.”

PV Sindhu’s third title of 2022

This is PV Sindhu’s third title in the year 2022. In January 2022, at the Babu Banarasi Indoor Stadium, Sindhu won the women’s singles title at the Syed Modi International tournament, where Sindhu defeated Malvika Bansod 21-13, 21-16 in the final that lasted 35 minutes.

Then later in March, at the St. Jacobshalle arena in Basel, India, an ace shuttler won the Swiss Open 2022 women’s singles title. Beating it on Court 1, Sindhu beat Thailand’s double Olympic medalist Busanan Ongbamrungphan 21-16, 21-8 in 49 minutes.

Now PV Sindhu has won her third title of the year by winning the Singapore Open. This is a massive achievement for PV Sindhu. PV Sindhu won the Singapore Open 2022 title by defeating Wang Zhiyi of China.
