Punjab University’s budget of Rs 868.46 crore for 2025-26 has been passed, in which Rs 278 crore has been set aside for pay revision. The grant of Rs 175 crore to be given to the teachers and non-teaching staff of PU in the budget is expected to be received by the end of this financial year. Apart from this, an income of Rs 383.69 crore is estimated, which is Rs 85.67 crore more than the previous financial year 2023-24.
The issue of CAS promotion remained pending in the BOF meeting this time too. The cases related to the promotion of eight past service faculty were discussed, but the decision is again pending. These cases will now be sent for verification.
In some departments of PU, old technical and laboratory cadre posts have been abolished. The posts of Foreman-1 from Chemistry Department, Technician 1 from Geology, Foreman-2 from Biophysics, and Senior Scientific Officer-1 from Central Instrumentation Lab have been abolished. At the same time, new posts of Senior Scientific Officer-1 and Senior Officer have been created in UIET.
Computer center upgradation proposal passed
A proposal of Rs 26.90 crore has also been passed to upgrade the computer center of PU. OBC network backbone and UTB cabling facilities will be provided in it.
A permanent post of Chief Pharmacy Officer (Grade-One) will be created in BGJ Institute of Health Sciences, for which pay scale of Level-12 will be given. Four other posts of Pharmacy Officer will also be filled. All the posts will be filled on the pattern of Punjab Government.
