In the wake of the catastrophic surge in Covid-19 cases across the country, the government of Punjab has ordered a weekend lockdown.

The state ordered a 6 pm to 5 am weekday curfew and a full weekend lockdown from Friday at 6 pm to Monday at 5 am, Chief Minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh said on Twitter.

“Urge you all to stay at home & step out only if absolutely necessary. Seek your full cooperation,” Punjab Chief Minister tweeted.

India recorded more than 350,000 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, marking the fifth day in a row the country broke the world record for daily Covid-19 cases.
