Blaming the Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit for deliberate and inordinate delay in clearing the file regarding regularisation of the services of contractual employees, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Saturday said Purohit being the Constitutional head of the state was “certainly functioning under the political pressure of BJP” in wake of forthcoming assembly polls.
Addressing the media persons here on Saturday, Channi said that the Chief Secretary and even he had personally met Governor to get the file over regularisation of the services of contractual employees cleared adding that earlier he thought Governor might be busy elsewhere but now it is crystal clear that he was unnecessarily sitting over the file.
The Chief Minister said it the question of the future of several employees who had been anxiously waiting for a day when their services would be regularized at par with their peers working in the state government.
Divulging the status of the file regarding regularization of the services of contractual employees in Punjab, Governor in a press statement informed that information shared with media by Channi is factually incorrect.
He informed that the file regarding regularization of the services of contractual employees was reverted to the office of Chief Minister Punjab with six queries that need to be clarified by the State Government. The Daily Guardian possesses a copy of the document that mentions the queries raised.
This file was duly received by CMO on December 31, 2021, and the reply to queries is awaited. “I advise the Chief Minister to give reply to the queries raised on the file,” said Purohit and added, “Once the reply comes, the bill will be re-examined at Governor’s Secretariat.”
Attacking Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Sunday alleged that the Chief Minister was trying to put the blame on Governor Banwarilal Purohit for delaying the implementation of the law to regularise contractual employees.
“Channi’s lies have been caught. People have come to know that he is a ‘dramebaaz CM’. He is now trying to put the blame on the Governor to safeguard himself from public ire. But he will not be able to escape them”, alleged SAD leader Prem Singh Chandumajra on Sunday.
Pertinently, the bill regarding the regularization of the services of contractual employees was passed in the State Assembly on November 11, 2021. After a lapse of nearly twenty days, the said file was sent to Punjab Raj Bhawan on December 1, 2021. During the month of December, the Governor was on tour to various districts of the State. The Governor concluded the tour on December 21 and thereafter, on Dec 23, CM Punjab came and met him at Punjab Raj Bhawan. The file was duly studied and reverted with observation/queries to CMO on December 31, 2021.
