In order to know the progress in controlling pollution at the Buddha Nullah project, Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has asked Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to share the progress report with the ministry.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had also met Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat recently to discuss cleaning the polluted water at the canals of Punjab.

While talking to The Daily Guardian, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said, “Buddha Nullah polluted water through Satluj is coming to Rajasthan. It is a declared source of cancer for Rajasthan people. It is a matter of grave concern, and we want to eradicate pollution sources as soon as possible. In the previous government of Captain Amarinder Singh, we had asked to start the project of cleaning this Nullah. Many polluted effluents are thrown into Buddha Nullah on a daily basis by more than 200 dairy plants in Ludhiana. The Punjab government is asked to share the progress report. We discussed solutions at length.”
