The Punjab unit of BJP, on Wednesday, demonstrated a protest in front of CM Captain Amarinder Singh’s official residence, against attacks on BJP workers and leaders in the state. They protested against the recent attacks on its workers in Rajpura and Patiala. BJP State President Ashwani Sharma demanded immediate action against the misconduct of the miscreants.

After the protest, the BJP leaders met the Chief Minister and gave him a memorandum. He was apprised by Ashwani that unfortunately for one year the BJP workers and leaders were being harassed and intimidated by ‘miscreants’ who had political protection. Ashwani said that the police is playing a mute role repeatedly, even though they approached the SSPs of the districts where ugly incidents had taken place.

The recent incident of such inhumanness only demonstrates the involvement of police and political nexus, said Ashwani. After the meeting, he said that the Capt Amarinder promised them that he would look into it. Ashwani added that Congress has lost its grip on the moral ‘dharma’ of governance and the situation is deteriorating rapidly in the state. The delegation included senior BJP leaders Madan Mohan Mittal, Manoranjan Kalia, Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Dr Shubash Sharma, Jeevan Gupta, Tikashn Sood, Rajesh Baga, and Harjit Singh Grewal.
