Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab president and MP Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday along with party MLAs and prominent leaders were detained for about 2 hours on way to gherao Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s ‘farmhouse’. They were detained near New Chandigarh. They were going to gherao farmhouse on the spurious liquor issue.

On the occasion, Bhagwant Mann, leader of the Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema, party MLAs and leaders had a heated exchange of arguments with the police deployed there. Some leaders, including Garhshankar MLA Jai Krishan Singh Rori also got injured. The AAP leaders raised slogans against the Punjab government as they were stopped by the police.

Mann said, “If the Punjab government and the police throw us in jails, even then we will keep fighting at all levels against the system, till the time Captain Amarinder Singh and his ministers tender their resignation on moral grounds. No force can silence our voice.”

 He said that the CM was yet to reach out to the aggrieved families of people died due consumption of poisonous liquor in three districts of Majha area, including Tarn Taran, Amritsar and Batala (Gurdaspur).
