In a big twist in Pune’s Porsche crash case, the grandfather of a 17-year-old teen came to record his statement with Pune’s crime branch at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.

During his statement, he claimed that he handed over the keys to an electric luxury sedan worth Rs. 2 crores in consultation with the boy’s father (a prominent builder who got arrested).

As per the DCP of the Crime Branch, Amol Zende, he emphasized that the grandfather’s statement was necessary to establish the sequence of events that led to the accident.

According to his testimony, the boy informed his family that he and his friends were going out to celebrate the Class XII results.

After talking to his son, his grandfather handed him the car keys and credit card to manage the party’s expenses.

Later, the DCP further recounted that the grandfather wasn’t aware of the consequences of giving his car keys to his grandson.

As per the family driver, the teenager drove his Porsche from Wadgaon Sheri bungalow to Cosie and then to Blak Marriott pub.

Later, the driver and another employee followed the car in their four-wheeler. After that, the driver drove out the Porsche from the pub’s valet after the boy was done partying.

However, the driver also disclosed that the teen insisted on driving the car despite being drunk. So, stuck in a dilemma, he dialed his father’s number.

Then, the father instructed the driver to sit behind the passenger seat and let his son drive. Which the driver complied, and then on fated Wednesday night, the teenager along with his two friends drove the car before the accident of two software engineers occurred.

What Has Happened in the Case So Far?

Meanwhile, the crime branch is dealing with the father’s second FIR, where he’s accused of allowing his underage son to drive without a license.

Moreover, the six staffers of Cosie and Blak Marriott pubs are being probed for giving alcohol to minors. Currently, they are in police custody until Friday.

And as per the crime branch’s cop confirmation, the phones of builders along with digital video recorders have been confiscated, followed by other establishments found on Pune-Ahmednagar Road.
