On 24 September, a minor girl was gang-raped and murdered near the Ramgarh Sethan police station area. The body of the victim was then thrown into the village well. The region has been witnessing protests for the past week, and now the agitation over the case has spread to Ramgarh and Fatehpur Shekhawati. People are demanding the swift filing of charges against the arrested accused. As a result, on Thursday, Ramgarh town and Fatehpur Shekhawati remained on complete shutdown.
The sensation had spread on September 24 when the body of the minor girl was found in the village well. Investigation revealed that a minor boy from the victim’s village, along with two of his accomplices, sexually assaulted the victim and then strangled her to death. They tried to hide the body by throwing it into the village well. The police have arrested the accused, including the juvenile offender Gulam and Samir Khan, in this case.
Protestors are demanding financial compensation and other government assistance to the victim’s family, along with the speedy filing of charges against the accused since the incident. They have also warned the administration of organising a complete shutdown in the entire Sikar district and staging demonstrations at the district headquarters if action is not taken on their demands.
