Apropos commitment of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to the Mohali Industrialists during ‘Sarkar Sanyatkar Milni’ to make Mohali more traffic friendly for investors and existing industry, DC Aashika Jain has called for a technical report on a proposal for traffic signal-free Airport road from GMADA officials and State Traffic Advisor Navdip Asija.
The development came on the proposal mooted by the representative of Cheema Boilers being a good Samaritan to the administration with the idea of making Airport road signal free.
Divulging details, she said that the introduction of new roundabouts and Cycle tracks is in the offing as the GMADA is already working on it. She added that as per the current traffic scenario, the administration and GMADA are striving hard to make Airport Road congestion-free besides a dedicated track for cyclists and pedestrians.
She said that the GMADA officials and State Traffic Advisor Navdeep Asija have been requested to check the feasibility of the idea forwarded by the representative from Cheema Boilers to make the Airport Road Signal free. The Deputy Commissioner said that the Airport Road carries huge traffic these days that hampers a smooth flow of commutation too.
The proposed roundabout sites where the GMADA is working included Radha Soami Chowk, Quark City Chowk, Sohana Gurdwara Chowk, Sector 68-69, Sector 67 IISER, etc.
The Deputy Commissioner said that as Mohali is the most sought-after district for investment in various fields, we are continuously striving to facilitate new investors and existing industries. She said valuable suggestions in this regard would always be welcomed to make smooth flow of traffic in Mohali.
