In a decisive move, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached the properties of two crucial Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives associated with the 2015 terrorist attack on a Border Security Force (BSF) convoy in Udhampur district of Jammu & Kashmir. The attack claimed the lives of two BSF personnel and left 13 others injured. The incident unfolded at approximately 7 a.m. on 5th August 2015, on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway near Narsoo ‘nallah’ in the village Narsoo of Udhampur district. One terrorist was killed, and another, identified as Naveed, was apprehended during the retaliatory action by security forces.
The two LeT operatives, Fayaz Ahmed Itoo alias Fayaz Khar and Khursheed Ahmed Bhat alias Khursheed Alam Bhat alias Surya were subsequently arrested and are presently undergoing trial in the NIA Special Court in Jammu. NIA investigations have identified them as members of the banned Pakistan-backed LeT terror organization.
Both Fayaz Ahmed Itoo and Khursheed Ahmed Bhat are prime accuseds in the case (RC-08/2015/NIA/DLI), which involves charges under various provisions of the Ranbir Penal Code, Arms Act, Explosive Substances Act 1946, Passport (Entry into India Act 1920), and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act 1967.As part of the recent orders from the NIA Special Court, Jammu, four immovable properties linked to the accused have been attached under Section 33 (1) of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 1967. These include a single-story residential house owned by Fayaz Ahmed Itoo in village Khudwani, Tehsil Qaimoh, district Kulgam, and a double-story residential house, along with two plots of land, owned by Khursheed Ahmed Bhat alias Surya in village Chursoo and Sail, Awantipora, District Pulwama.
The NIA’s firm action underscores the commitment to bring those responsible for acts of terror to justice and sends a strong message about the consequences awaiting individuals involved in such heinous activities.
