Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appear to be taking separate public paths to boost their brand, according to PR expert Mark Borkowski. The couple’s recent individual appearances have sparked speculation that they are focusing on solo ventures due to their combined “star power” not achieving the success they had hoped for.
Borkowski explained that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are shifting their narrative, stating, “There has been a separation of their work for a while. They had to change the narrative.” He suggested their individual pursuits are a strategic move to enhance their personal brands.
Despite this shift, a source told HELLO! Magazine that the couple still has “exciting projects in the pipeline” aimed at driving forward their shared mission for positive global impact.
Prince Harry’s recent activities include attending a WellChild event, which he has long supported, and traveling to Africa for work with Sentebale, the charity he co-founded. Meanwhile, Meghan Markle took center stage at a charity gala for the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and has been working on her own projects, including a Netflix show, with no confirmed release date.
Celebrity branding expert Doug Eldridge compared the couple’s strategy to splitting aces in poker, saying that while Harry and Meghan together seem unbeatable, it may be more effective for them to play separate hands. Eldridge noted that when they appear together, it often brings up negative associations related to their departure from the Royal Family and past controversies.
Their separate ventures may be a fresh approach to moving beyond those challenges and strengthening their individual brands.
