President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday paid homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi No. 32. President Kovind has arrived in Dhaka on a three-day state visit and visited the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum. He paid homage to the Father of the Nation with flowers at No. 32, Dhanmondi. President Kovind reached Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi No. 32 around 12:20 pm on Wednesday. There, Sheikh Rehana, the youngest daughter of Bangabandhu and younger sister of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, welcomed the President of India. She showed the President of India the museum in Bangabandhu’s memory. At the end of the visit, President Kovind signed the inspection book. After that, President Kovind went to Hotel Sonargaon, where he is staying in Dhaka. Earlier, he arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on a special Indian Airlines flight at around 11:15 am on Wednesday. President Kovind was given a red carpet reception. President Abdul Hamid, along with his wife Rashida Khanam, welcomed him with flowers at the VVIP terminal of the airport. The two heads of state exchanged greetings. Arriving in Dhaka on a visit to celebrate the golden jubilee of victory in the War of liberation and the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he reached Savar National Memorial by helicopter at 12:35 pm. There, President Kovind paid homage to the martyrs of the liberation war. Later, he wrote his feelings in the notebook and planted a tree sapling. The head of state of India stood in silence for a while for paying homage to the country’s heroic martyrs at the National Memorial. A smart contingent of the armed forces paid homage to the martyrs in military style. At this time, the sad tune of the bugle sounded. Indian diplomat Arindam Bagchi said on Twitter that President Kovind had written in the visitor’s book, “Let the consciousness of those who sacrificed their lives for the liberation war continue in our thoughts and deeds.” Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina met President Kovind t at Sonargaon at 4.30 pm. In the evening, President Abdul Hamid organized a cultural program and dinner in honour of the visiting President at Bangabhaban. This is President Kovind’s first foreign tour since the start of the coronavirus epidemic. He is one of the invited guests in the grandevent of Bangladesh on the occasion of the golden jubilee of victory. He is accompanied by Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Sringla. During President Kovind ‘s visit, various bilateral issues will be discussed. On the second day of his visit on Thursday, President Kovind will take part in a function to mark the golden jubilee of Victory Day at the National Parade Ground as the “Guest of Honour”. He is also scheduled to take part in the “Mahavijayer Mahanayak” programme organized on the occasion of Subarna Jayanti and Mujibvarsha at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban this afternoon. President Kovind will visit Ramna Kali Mandir on Friday morning. He will inaugurate the newly renovated part there. He also had a brief exchange of views with the members of the temple committee.
