The Premier Handball League’s inaugural season will take place from June 8th to June 25th, 2023, at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
The six teams–Rajasthan Patriots, Garvit Gujarat, Maharashtra Ironmen, Golden Eagles Uttar Pradesh, Telugu Talons, and Delhi Panzers–will compete at the indoor facility on a Teraflex handball surface manufactured by Gerflor.
As the home of the Jaipur Pink Panthers, the stadium has also hosted several Pro Kabaddi League matches since 2014. The Rajasthan State Sports Council owns and manages the venue.
Padma Shree awardee Olympian and President of the Rajasthan State Sports Council, Dr Krishna Poonia, expressed his delight, saying, “I am delighted that the first season of the Premier Handball League will be held at the modern and unique Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur.”
We were determined to host a major sporting event in the state, and this was the ideal opportunity. We are confident that the Premier Handball League will provide the perfect platform for the league’s handball players to showcase their talents, ultimately helping to elevate the status of handball as a sport in the country.”
Dr. Poonia’s sentiment was echoed by Dr. Ajay Data, Chairman of Bluesport Entertainment, who stated, “I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Poonia and the Rajasthan State Sports Council for hosting the inaugural season of the Premier Handball League.”
