HD Kumaraswamy, a former chief minister of Karnataka and leader of the Janata Dal (Secular), addressed the controversies surrounding the purportedly lewd video issue involving JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna. He declared that anyone found guilty of any crime would be prosecuted under the law.

HD Kumaraswamy questioned the timing of the purported tapes featuring Prajwal Revanna’s release during a news conference in Shivamogga. Why weren’t these films released sooner rather than three days ago, he wondered. He underlined the importance of the SIT probe revealing the truth and the need for those culpable for any errors to face legal consequences.

With regard to the Lok Sabha elections of 2024, HD Kumaraswamy expressed optimism that the incident will not have a major effect on the results, especially in Hassan, where HD Deve Gowda’s grandson Prajwal Revanna is running.

A complaint made by their cook led to the filing of cases of sexual harassment and stalking against HD Revanna, the son of former prime minister Deve Gowda, and Prajwal Revanna, his grandson.

In response to rumours that Prajwal Revanna had left the nation, HD Kumaraswamy said that they had no prior knowledge of the matter and that it was a personal matter. That he could not keep an eye on Prajwal Revanna’s whereabouts every day was something he made clear.

JD(S) MLA Samruddhi Manjunath expressed concerns about the humiliation the issue has caused for party workers, while MLA Sharana Gowda Kandakur wrote to party president HD Deve Gowda seeking Prajwal Revanna’s dismissal from the party over the alleged obscene video case.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the leader of the Congress, questioned whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi would say nothing about the alleged sex scandal, prompting criticism of the BJP. The party also released a letter disclosing the existence of a pen drive having “sleaze videos of Prajwal Revanna,” which was written by a BJP leader to the Karnataka BJP president.
