Ahead of the forthcoming parliamentary as well as assembly polls, there is a lot of turmoil in Haryana these days. Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), which is on its toes to survive in state politics, will organise a rally in Kaithal on September 25 on the birth anniversary of former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhary Devi Lal. The INLD has also invited Congress veteran Sonia Gandhi to attend this rally. INLD is continuously giving clear hints of forging an alliance with Congress while contrary to this, the Congress veteran Bhupendra Singh Hooda has rejected the same several times stating that the Congress is in a position to form the government alone.
In response to the NDA, the opposition parties formed the INDIA Alliance to counter the BJP at the national level. Since there is INDIA Alliance of opposition parties at the Centre, and JDU’s KC Tyagi has also said recently that INLD can also be a part of the alliance. But Bhupendra Singh Hooda has made it clear that the Congress does not need an alliance with any party in Haryana as the party is capable of forming the government on its own. This alliance has now become a cause of conflict for Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) too. Along with Congress, Aam Aadmi Party is also in the alliance, but till now both have parted ways in Haryana. More or less, a similar situation prevails in the neighbouring state of Punjab.
In case the alliance comes into existence between the three parties – Congress, INLD and AAP in Haryana, there is sure to be a dispute over seat distribution between Hooda, AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and INLD’s Abhay Singh Chautala. Even in the Lok Sabha elections, Congress will have to share seats with AAP and INLD, which at present does not seem possible under any circumstances.
