Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Wednesday said that a “Post Covid Care and Research Centre” will soon be set up at PGIMS Rohtak to address the problems faced by patients recovering from coronavirus.

Not only will people suffering from Covid-19 be treated in this centre but research will also be done on the problems they have to go through after recovering, he added. The minister said that with the increase in Covid-19 cases in the last few days, the recovery rate has increased to 89.62 percent, while the death rate is 1.01 percent.

Civil surgeons of all districts have been directed to increase sampling and to set up Covid testing camps in districts and cities in order to control the spread of the infection. Vij said that the civil surgeons should also encourage people in the districts to download the app made by the Health Department so that patients can get information about the availability of beds in hospitals from their homes itself.

In addition, civil surgeons should ensure the availability of beds in private hospitals based on the rating of Covid-19 in various districts.

He asked all government medical colleges to reserve 100 beds for Covid-19 patients so that these could be used as the number of cases increase. Along with this, the police department was also directed to be strict with people who are not wearing masks while the local urban bodies department should check that masks are worn by everyone in the shops.

Expressing concern over the case of some children being found Covid-19 positive in schools, the minister said that the Health Department team would conduct health checkups of students and staff of all schools. Strict action should be taken against whichever school is found to be negligent, Vij added. He said that tests should be conducted in the factories as well.
