‘Swallowing Allies?’ PM Modi’s Bold Take On Congress As ‘Parasitic Party’ After Haryana Election Results

Hours after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a resounding victory in the Haryana elections, PM Modi took aim at the Congress, branding it a “parasitic party” that undermines its allies. Defying exit poll predictions, which had leaned toward a Congress victory, the BJP comfortably crossed the halfway mark in Haryana’s 90-seat assembly, winning 48 seats. Meanwhile, Congress was limited to just 37 seats.

PM Modi’s Address: Sharp Criticism for Congress

Addressing BJP workers at the party’s headquarters, PM Modi lashed out at the Congress, accusing it of attempting to tarnish national institutions. His remarks appeared to be in response to Congress’s complaint to the Election Commission, where they questioned the slow progress of vote counting.

Congress is a parasitic party that swallows its allies. They want to build a nation where people hate their heritage and question every institution that this country takes pride in,” Modi said. He further alleged that Congress consistently aims to “tarnish” the image of national institutions like the Election Commission, police, and judiciary.

Congress Left Stunned by Defeat

The Congress, visibly shaken by the outcome, called the Haryana election results “totally unexpected” and “completely surprising.” They argued that the result was counter-intuitive and did not align with ground realities. Despite their protests, the party has stated it will not accept the election results, casting doubts on the fairness of the process.

Jammu and Kashmir: BJP Rises to Second Largest Party

In Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP also made significant gains, emerging as the second-largest party by winning 29 seats. PM Modi highlighted that Congress’s poor performance continues to hurt its allies, referencing their weakening position in both the recent Lok Sabha and assembly elections.

“Congress’s allies have repeatedly suffered because of their association with the party, and today’s results have once again confirmed it,” he said, recalling how half of Congress’s Lok Sabha seats were won with the support of their allies.

Congress’s Allegations and PM Modi’s Response

PM Modi also responded to Congress’s allegations against the Election Commission, recalling how the party and its “urban Naxalite” allies had approached the Supreme Court before the Lok Sabha results, attempting to discredit the Election Commission’s impartiality. He accused Congress of misleading the public and habitually questioning the credibility of institutions.

“Congress has always sought to mislead the nation and cast doubts on the impartiality of our institutions. This has been their habit, and they continue to shamelessly do so,” Modi remarked.

Election Commission’s Response

The Election Commission responded strongly to Congress’s complaints, calling them “irresponsible” and “unfounded.” The poll panel criticized Congress for giving credence to “malafide narratives” that sought to undermine the democratic process.

In the aftermath of this decisive win, the BJP’s success has further cemented its position, while the Congress is left to reevaluate its strategies amidst the growing criticism.
