Rahul Gandhi to Lead Congress Campaign in J&K with Mega Rallies on September 4

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi will spearhead the party’s campaign in Jammu and Kashmir with major rallies scheduled for September 4. The campaign will also feature prominent Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, marking her first campaign appearance in the region.

The Congress’s strategy includes rallies and roadshows, with the first events planned in Banihal and Dooru in South Kashmir. This campaign is seen as a crucial push for the party ahead of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, which will be held in three phases starting September 18.

Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra emphasized the significance of Rahul Gandhi’s involvement, highlighting his successful Bharat Jodo Yatra and its impact on the campaign. The Congress is optimistic about leveraging Gandhi’s popularity to counter the BJP’s dominance, especially in Jammu, where the party has seen recent successes.

The Congress is contesting in alliance with the National Conference, with a seat-sharing arrangement of 51 seats for the National Conference and 32 for Congress. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s participation is expected to add momentum to the campaign.

Meanwhile, the BJP is also intensifying its efforts, with rallies planned featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and other senior leaders.

Jammu and Kashmir, which has 90 Assembly seats, will conduct its elections in three phases: September 18, September 25, and October 1, with results set to be announced on October 8.
