Rahul Gandhi Meets Speaker Over Derogatory Comments

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi met with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to address derogatory comments made against him on Wednesday. Gandhi explained, “I held a meeting with the Speaker. I told him that derogatory comments against me should be expunged. The Speaker said that he would look into it.” He emphasized the importance of the House functioning smoothly and ensuring proper discussions.

Focus on Parliamentary Functioning

Gandhi further stated, “No matter what they say about me, we want to have a debate on 13th December.” He underlined that the main objective was to allow meaningful debates to take place in Parliament.

Adani Debate Avoided by BJP

Additionally, Gandhi pointed out the ruling party’s reluctance to address the Adani issue. “They don’t want a discussion on Adani. In the end, we will not leave this. They will keep levelling allegations on us, but the House must function,” he added.

Opposition Reacts to Allegations

This meeting comes after BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey and Sambit Patra made allegations on December 5, linking Gandhi to Hungarian-American businessman George Soros. These remarks sparked outrage among Congress members and further fueled the ongoing political debate.
