Floor leaders of India bloc Parties to meet At Kharge’s Residence tonight

Floor leaders of the INDIA bloc parties will gather at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence tonight at 8 pm.

Congress MP KC Venugopal stated that they were still waiting and expressed readiness to elect the NDA’s candidate unanimously if the Deputy Speaker post was offered to them. Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s remarks the previous day about consensus in the functioning of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Venugopal emphasized their willingness to support the Speaker proposed by the government, provided that the Opposition was also respected. He highlighted the tradition where Speakers come from the government’s side and Deputy Speakers from the Opposition, noting that during the UPA’s tenure, they had allocated the Deputy Speaker position to the NDA for a decade. Regarding a recent conversation between Rajnath Singh and Mallikarjun Kharge, Venugopal relayed that Kharge had conveyed their support for the government’s candidate but requested the Deputy Speaker post. Rajnath Singh had responded that he would consult PM Modi and revert with a decision.
