ECI Convenes CEO, DEOs, ROs and DCPs To Go Over Preparedness of 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections

In a decisive move toward the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) convened a high-level meeting on Thursday to assess and enhance electoral readiness. The assembly included the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Delhi, District Election Officers (DEOs), Returning Officers (ROs), Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), and other key officials. The focus was on reviewing the progress of the ongoing Special Summary Revision 2025 and strategizing for the forthcoming general election to the Delhi Legislative Assembly.

The ECI emphasized the importance of meticulous preparation to ensure a free, fair, and transparent electoral process. This initiative comes as political activities intensify in the capital, with major parties gearing up for the electoral battle.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), currently in power, has proactively released two lists of candidates for the upcoming elections. In its second list, the party announced 20 candidates, following a crucial meeting of its Political Affairs Committee (PAC) chaired by party convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Notably, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been shifted from his traditional Patparganj constituency to Jangpura, with Awadh Ojha nominated for Patparganj.

Amid these developments, AAP has raised serious concerns regarding the integrity of the electoral roll. A delegation led by Arvind Kejriwal met with the Election Commission, alleging a “mass voter deletion” conspiracy orchestrated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Kejriwal claimed that they had submitted 3,000 pages of evidence to substantiate their allegations, highlighting a large-scale effort to remove legitimate voters in Delhi.

In response, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva dismissed AAP’s allegations and criticized the party for making “false promises,” particularly concerning financial support for women in Punjab and Delhi, which he claimed had not materialized. Sachdeva asserted that the public’s trust now lies solely with the ‘Modi Ki Guarantee,’ citing financial support provided to women in several states, including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Odisha, and Maharashtra.
