Clash Erupts in Seelampur as BJP Alleges Fake Voting by Burqa-Clad Women

The clash occurred at a polling booth in Delhi’s Seelampur on the day of election, when BJP accused AAP of conducting fake voting by bringing in burqa-clad women. Some female voters complained that other women had voted in their names, which was met with great public outcry.

After these allegations, Delhi Police increased security and began strict voter verification to avoid bogus voting. Authorities checked all the voters to ensure that only the right people voted in the elections.

BJP and AAP Workers Clash Heatedly

BJP leaders accused AAP of voter fraud by allegedly bringing in outsiders to cast fake votes in Seelampur. The situation went out of hand as party workers resorted to sloganeering and clashed at the polling booth.

A BJP worker alleged that, “Men and women sent by AAP disguised themselves in masks and burqas to vote instead of actual voters.” Several voters showcased their voter IDs and uninked fingers as they claimed they were not given an opportunity to vote. Someone had already cast ballots in their names, and they were denied their right to vote.

Voter Turnout Updates

Voting for the 70 Assembly constituencies of Delhi is currently underway, and the Election Commission has reported that 19.95% voters have cast their votes till 11 AM. The largest attendance was in North East Delhi (24.87%), followed by Shahdara (23.30%). At 16.46%, Central Delhi had the lowest turnout.

By 11 AM, 17.56% of voters had cast ballots in the New Delhi constituency, where Arvind Kejriwal is running for a third term. By 9 AM, Delhi’s turnout was only 8.1%, indicating a delayed start to the voting process.

To guarantee fair and transparent voting, the election process is being conducted under increased security. In order to handle any more irregularities that might occur during the voting process, authorities are still on the lookout.
