Union Home Minister Amit Shah strongly criticized Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, for his recent comments made during a visit to the United States. Shah accused Gandhi of harming India’s security and unity by making divisive statements about issues like caste, the reservation system, and his meeting with US politician Ilhan Omar, known for her anti-India stance.
Using social media platform X, Shah remarked, “Speaking anti-national things and aligning with forces that want to divide the country has become a habit for Rahul Gandhi and Congress. Whether it’s supporting the anti-national and anti-reservation agenda of JKNC in Jammu and Kashmir or making anti-India statements abroad, Rahul Gandhi has always threatened the security and sentiments of the country.”
Rahul Gandhi’s Statements on Caste and Reservation
Shah pointed out Gandhi’s comments on the reservation system, accusing him of exposing Congress’s “anti-reservation face.” Shah emphasized, “As long as BJP is in power, no one can touch the reservation system or play with the country’s security.” He further added that Gandhi’s divisive remarks based on language, region, and religion highlighted his harmful approach.
Controversy Over Meeting with Ilhan Omar
Rahul Gandhi’s meeting with US politician Ilhan Omar during his visit stirred controversy. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) questioned why Gandhi met Omar, accusing him of aligning with anti-India figures. BJP representatives suggested that Gandhi’s opposition to the BJP had crossed into “anti-India” territory.
Piyush Goyal’s Criticism
Union Minister Piyush Goyal also criticized Gandhi, calling him the “master of fake propaganda.” Goyal expressed disappointment over Gandhi’s statements and meetings abroad, accusing him of dishonoring India and its people by associating with anti-India elements.
Khalistani Group’s Support for Gandhi’s Sikh Comments
A banned Khalistani group, Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), expressed support for Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on Sikhs, further fueling BJP’s outrage. Amit Malviya, head of the BJP’s media cell, condemned the backing, saying, “Sikhs For Justice, the banned Khalistan terror group, has supported Rahul Gandhi’s misinformed comments on the Sikh community. This shows Congress is working with anti-India forces.”
Rajnath Singh Calls Gandhi’s Remarks Misleading
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh strongly rebuked Gandhi’s comments, calling them “misleading, baseless, and factless.” Singh highlighted the respect the Sikh community holds in India and dismissed Gandhi’s claims about the NDA government’s stance on reservations. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had strengthened the reservation system for the benefit of marginalized groups.
Singh also criticized Gandhi’s statements regarding the India-China border dispute, calling them false and misinformed. He concluded by accusing Gandhi of spreading lies during his US visit.
Gandhi’s Comments on Caste Census and Quota System
During his address at Georgetown University, Gandhi reiterated his call for a caste census, emphasizing the Congress party’s commitment to understanding the socio-economic status of lower castes in India. He also remarked that reservations could only be reconsidered when India becomes a “fair place,” implying that current social inequalities make it necessary to retain the system.
BJP leader and media cell head, Amit Malviya, took to social media platform X to express his criticism of Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks on the Sikh community. Malviya pointed out that Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), a banned Khalistan organization, had backed Gandhi’s comments made during his US tour. He described the situation as “unprecedented” and suggested it reflected poorly on Congress.
Accusation of Alliance with Anti-India Forces
He further stated, “After Ilhan Omar, this is yet another instance of Congress aligning with anti-India forces. Congress and Rahul Gandhi appear to be working against the country’s interests, doing everything possible to disrupt India’s social unity.”
