AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj Accuses Delhi Police of Blocking Voters in Chirag Delhi

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Saurabh Bharadwaj, contesting from the Greater Kailash Assembly seat, accused the Delhi Police of preventing voters from casting their ballots at a polling station in Chirag Delhi. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, he claimed that police officers had set up barricades and were attempting to influence the election at multiple booths.

“You have been standing here since morning to influence the elections. Why are the barricades being put up? Which senior officer of the Delhi Police has instructed them to do so?” Bharadwaj questioned. He further alleged that the Malviya Nagar ACP and SHO were deliberately creating obstacles in AAP strongholds.

Claims of Unfair Restrictions

Bharadwaj highlighted that around 21,000 people were supposed to vote in Chirag Delhi, but the police were making it difficult for them to access polling stations. He argued that there were no official guidelines preventing people from reaching polling booths via metro or road. He further questioned whether BJP Delhi chief Virendra Sachdeva or President Droupadi Murmu had been required to get down 200 meters away from their voting locations.

Delhi Police Responds

Responding to these allegations, South Delhi DCP Ankit Chauhan assured that the concerns raised by Bharadwaj would be investigated. “There is an exception for the elderly and those who cannot walk. For them, bringing their car inside is allowed. This rule is being implemented everywhere. We will investigate the places where Saurabh Bharadwaj is raising concerns,” Chauhan stated.

Kejriwal Urges Voters to Participate

Meanwhile, AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal cast his vote along with his family at Lady Irwin Senior Secondary School. Accompanied by his wife Sunita Kejriwal and parents Gobind Ram Kejriwal and Gita Devi, he urged Delhiites to vote for the city’s development.

“My parents were very excited to cast their votes. I appeal to the people of Delhi to come out and vote for the development of Delhi. The one who will work for Delhi will get the votes of the public,” Kejriwal said.

Voting Underway in Delhi

Polling for all 70 Assembly seats in Delhi began on Wednesday morning under tight security. Voting started at 7:00 am and will continue until 6:00 pm.
