In a significant stride against the rampant drug trade, the Baramulla Police apprehended five individuals, including a female suspect, in a recent operation, seizing a cache of contraband substances from their possession.

The arrest unfolded at a checkpoint established at Kralhar Baramulla when a police party from Police Station Baramulla, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) intercepted a Tata Venture vehicle with registration number JK05D-3072. The vehicle carried five individuals, among them a lady, who were subsequently taken into custody.

Upon conducting a thorough search, law enforcement discovered 45 grams of Brown Sugar and 345 grams of a Charas-like substance in the possession of the suspects. The arrested individuals were identified as Sharik Ahmad Sheikh (son of Ab Rashid), Sharif Ahmad Sheikh (son of Bashir Ahmad), Irfan Ahmad Sheikh (son of Mushtaq Ahmad), and a lady, all residents of Dewan Bagh Baramulla, along with Bakir Ahmad Rather (son of Ab Qayoom Rather), a resident of Chandsooma Kanispora.

He suspects were promptly arrested and shifted to the police station, where they are currently in custody. A case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Baramulla, and investigations have been initiated.

Law enforcement authorities urge the public to report any instances of drug peddling or other crimes by contacting the nearest police establishment or dialing 112. Cooperation from the community is crucial in the ongoing efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society. The police assure community members that strict legal actions will be taken against criminals involved in illicit activities.
