District Panchkula Police maintained strict vigilance against drunken driving on New Year’s Eve. The police launched a special drive to curb public alcohol consumption, setting up anti-drunken nakas at various locations in the city at night. During the campaign, the traffic police took action against 67 individuals for drink driving. Providing information, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sumer Pratap Singh mentioned that a special blockade was established to maintain law and order in the district.

Additionally, 10 special checkpoints were set up under the Drunk and Drive initiative.
While checking on Sunday night, the police took action against 67 drivers found driving under the influence of alcohol. Drinking and driving pose significant dangers in traffic because not only the driver but also other people and vehicles can be harmed. In a road accident, the mistake of one person can lead to harm for others. Therefore, the police are taking action against those who drink and drive.

In addition, the police conduct regular weekend checks by setting up checkpoints under the special drunk and drive initiative. If any person is found driving under the influence of alcohol, a direct challan is issued under the Motor Vehicles Act. ASP Manpreet Singh Sudan stated that no person driving under the influence of alcohol is being spared by the traffic police. Anyone making this mistake will be fined because their carelessness can cause harm to others.

Sudan mentioned that challans were issued to 344 drivers who violated traffic rules, such as not wearing helmets, not using seat belts, illegal parking, and using incorrect routes.
