Praveen Chakravarty, a pastor belonging to Kakinada city of Andhra Pradesh has been arrested by the CID cops due to his video in which he said that his mission was to vandalise idols of Hindu deities. He was arrested for posting videos denigrating another religion on social media. The pastor, who is a native of East Godavari district, was booked under sections 153(A), 153(B) (1) (C), 505 (2), 295 (A), 124(A), 115 IPC r/w 66 (F) of the IT Act, 2000. Based on a complaint by Singam Venkata Sri Lakshminarayana of Guntur, CID additional DGP PV Sunil Kumar directed CID additional SP Vijay Paul to investigate the case. A CID team verified Chakravarty’s social media posts and concluded he had posted the video to create unrest by making derogatory comments against a religion. “Chakravarthy has committed a grave crime by making such posts and videos on social media,” said CID ADGP Sunil Kumar was accused in four such similar cases and history sheet was opened.

Praveen Chakravarty is a pastor and chairman of Christian institutions including Mother Teresa Schools, KTC children home, PVRM Educational society and Sylom Blind center. After the arrest he was remanded to judicial custody. In his videos it’s very evident he hates Hindu Gods, idols. He wanted to change all villages as Jesus villages. In his interviews to some You tube channels he made derogatory comments against Hinduism which lead to protests by religious groups.
