On Sunday, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) apprehended Ashwajit Gaikwad, the primary suspect in the Thane runover case involving a senior bureaucrat’s son, along with his accomplices Romil Patil and Sagar Shedge, as reported by ANI. The incident, occurring around 4:30 am on December 11 near a Ghodbunder Road hotel, involved a confrontation between Gaikwad and a 26-year-old woman, resulting in her severe injuries. Allegedly, following an argument, the victim retrieved her belongings from Gaikwad’s vehicle and attempted to depart. However, the driver of the car purportedly aimed to strike her, causing her to fall and sustain grave injuries, according to police statements. The authorities also seized the vehicle utilized during the crime. The SIT’s arrest of the prime accused and his associates marks a significant development in the investigation into this disturbing incident, shedding light on the events leading to the woman’s grievous injuries.
