Amid the Russian advances near the capital Kyiv, leaders of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia are reaching the capital of Ukraine on a European Union mission to meet with Ukraine’s senior officials. The European Union mission which is going to Ukraine includes Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Prime Minister of Czech Republic Petr Fiala and their Slovenian counterpart Janez Jansa. Many other top officials of these countries will also accompany the leaders. They are expected to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other top ministers and people in the security establishment.
Meanwhile, one of the biggest civilian airports in Ukraine’s Dnipro region was badly damaged in overnight firing and Russian rocket attacks. Talking to local media Dnipro regional governor Valentyn Reznichenko said that the attack caused massive damage and destruction to the runway, terminal building. “It will take a lot of time to recover but we will win,” he said.
Witnessing the advances by Russian troops around Kyiv, the mayor of Kyiv had announced that a 36-hour long curfew is imposed between Tuesday and Thursday. “The curfew will start from 8 pm on 15 March and will go till 7 am on 17 March, people will only be allowed to go outside to head to bomb shelters,” mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko said. The mayor added that the Ukrainians will stand up and defend the capital. He added, “The capital is the heart of Ukraine, we need to defend it come what may. The city is the symbol of our resistance against the barbaric Russian forces.”
