The Finance and Contract Committee meeting of the Municipal Corporation Panchkula, chaired by Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal, was held on Monday. Administrative approval was granted to float tenders worth Rs 25 crore for various development schemes. Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal stated that approval was given for a tender worth Rs 243.92 lakh for the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of CCTV cameras and related items to enhance the functionality of the existing CCTV surveillance system in Panchkula.
Panchkula Municipal Corporation has installed 394 cameras in the city, including 393 boxes, 57 PTZ, and 23 NPR cameras. Many of these cameras are in poor condition. Despite numerous meetings between administrative and police officials regarding over a dozen faulty CCTV cameras, no solution had been found until now. In the Finance and Contract Committee meeting, Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal proposed a solution and approved the repair of all the cameras. He emphasized the need to repair CCTV cameras promptly to make the city crime-free.
The meeting also approved Rs 98.68 lakh for providing and laying coat, bituminous concrete mastic asphalt, and dense bitumen macadam patches on the internal roads of Mansa Devi Complex Sector 4, Ward No. 2, Village Saketdi, Ward No. Approval of Rs 58.78 lakh for providing and laying 80 mm thick paver block ISI mark in 1, Rs 57.36 lakh approved for providing and installing grills on the dividing road of Sector 20 and 21 from Punjab Border to Shimla Highway Zirakpur.
Approval was given to float a tender worth Rs 2.47 crore for the development of the Material Recovery Facility Center (MRF) located near Kami Gaon Road in Village Alipur, Ward No. 20, Municipal Corporation Panchkula. Additionally, approval was granted to send a tender worth Rs 18.13 crore to the Urban Local Bodies Department for approval to float a tender for door-to-door collection, segregation, transportation, and processing within the limits of the Municipal Corporation Panchkula.
During the meeting, Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal noted several shortcomings by the agency handling sewerage and water work in Saketdi, Billa, and Alipur under the Amrut scheme in the district. Despite repeated requests to address sewerage issues in Saketadi and repair damaged roads in Billa, the agency has not resolved the problems.
Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal directed that 5 percent of the total approved tender amount should be withheld until the agency completes the work properly. The agency was awarded a tender worth about Rs 40 crore. Commissioner Sachin Gupta, Joint Commissioner Simranjit Kaur, Senior Accountant Vikas Kaushik, Councilors Sunit Singla, and Gurmail Kaur were present at the Finance and Contract Committee meeting.
