Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the national emblem on the roof of the new Parliament building on Monday. Giving information about this, the officials said that this national emblem has been created with bronze, which has a total weight of 9,500 kg and height is 6.5 metres.

A senior CPWD official said, “The structure weighs 9,500 kg and is 4.4m in width. It has been cast at the top of the Central Foyer of the New Parliament Building. A supporting structure of steel weighing around 6,500 kg has been constructed to support the Emblem.”

Moreover, officials said that Prime Minister Modi also interacted with workers engaged in the construction of the new Parliament.

The concept and process of casting the National Emblem on the new Parliament House roof have undergone eight stages of preparation, from clay modelling/computer graphics to bronze casting and polishing.

However, All India Masjlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has objected to the unveiling of the Ashoka Pillar atop the new Parliament Lok Sabha building by PM Narendra Modi. As head of government, the PM should not have unveiled the national emblem atop the new Parliament building. Only the Speaker of the Lok Sabha has this right. On the other hand, Owaisi alleges that the PM has violated all constitutional norms.

Taking to Twitter Owaisi tweeted, “Constitution separates powers of parliament, govt & judiciary. As head of govt, @PMOIndia shouldn’t have unveiled the national emblem atop new parliament building. Speaker of Lok Sabha represents LS which isn’t subordinate to govt. @PMOIndia has violated all constitutional norms.”
