Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate India’s first seaplane service on the Sabarmati Riverfront today in Gujarat. PM Modi will reach Ahmedabad by seaplane from Kevadia and after landing at the port, he will go directly to Ahmedabad Airport.

The riverfront road and both bridges will be closed for the public from morning.

Earlier, it was understood that the fare for a one-way ticket from Ahmedabad to the Statue of Unity would be Rs 4800, but now it has been officially announced that the fare for a one-way ticket from Ahmedabad to the Statue of Unity will be Rs.1500 and Rs.3000 for the round trip.

Due to the controversy over the Junagadh rope-way ticket, it was speculated that the one-way ticket for the Seaplane would be Rs. 4800. However, SpiceJet has officially said that there will be two daily flights between Ahmedabad and the Statue of Unity. The Statue of Unity can be reached from Ahmedabad in just 30 minutes by seaplane. Online booking for seaplane tickets has started from 30 October.

Under the UDAN flight scheme, the fare of a one-way ticket from Ahmedabad to Statue of Unity will be Rs. 1500. 15-seater twin otter aircraft will be used.

Following the inauguration of the seaplane, Sabarmati Riverfront has been turned into a police camp. A grand rehearsal of the seaplane was held on Thursday.

A total of 2,000 police personnel have been deployed. The riverfront will be closed as part of safety. A team of SPG, Fire Brigade, Police and IB has been deployed in four boats of the fire brigade. Four boats of the fire brigade will be at the corner between the two bridges. Police will keep a watch on the roofs of high-rise buildings surrounding the riverfront.
