Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm reception upon his arrival in Tiruchirappalli, where Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Governor RN Ravi greeted him. The two-day visit is marked by the inauguration, dedication, and foundation laying of development projects totaling over Rs 19,850 crore in the aviation, rail, road, oil and gas, shipping, and higher education sectors.

As the Chief Guest at the 38th Convocation Ceremony of Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, PM Modi is set to unveil and dedicate various initiatives. Among the key projects is the inauguration of the new terminal building at Trichy airport, developed at a cost exceeding Rs 1100 crore. The state-of-the-art terminal boasts a two-level structure that can serve over 44 lakh passengers annually, accommodating about 3,500 during peak hours.

The facility includes 60 check-in counters, 5 baggage carousels, 60 arrival immigration counters, and 44 departure emigration counters, offering enhanced passenger convenience. Inspired by the cultural vibrancy of Tiruchirappalli, the design showcases art forms such as Kolam art, the colors of Srirangam Temple, and other theme artworks reflecting India’s global connections.

PM Modi’s itinerary also includes the dedication of multiple development projects across sectors. The visit spans Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, and Kerala, emphasizing the government’s commitment to comprehensive regional development. The Prime Minister’s presence underscores the importance of these projects in fostering connectivity, economic growth, and educational advancements in the country’s southern regions.
