According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, battery-powered vehicles have a promising future in India and are well-positioned to adopt EV technology. Speaking at an event to celebrate Suzuki’s 40 years in India, PM Modi said that the nation’s entire EV ecosystem is moving in the right direction toward achieving wider acceptability.
India is moving steadily forward to make EVs available to more and more individuals around the nation. Even though the two- and three-wheeler categories are driving the majority of demand for these vehicles, automakers are already introducing models or announcing plans to do so in the near future.According to experts, with the correct incentives, the upfront purchase cost will decrease since advancements in battery technology will likewise lower its price. And in order to strengthen the infrastructure that supports EVs, many measures are being taken to address price-related problems. PM Modi recalled that “a battery swapping policy has also been adopted in the 2022 Financial Budget.”
While praising Maruti Suzuki’s contributions to the Indian auto industry and specifically highlighting its work with biofuel, ethanol blending, and hybrid electric vehicles, PM Modi advised that efforts be made to include compressed biomethane gas as an option as well.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki sells cars with petrol and CNG engines. While the Grand Vitara, which goes on sale next month, will be the company’s first model with strong hybrid technology, several of its vehicles also use mild hybrid technology.
