Born on December 11, 1935, in Mirati village, Birbhum District, West Bengal, Mukherjee hails from a family deeply involved in India’s freedom struggle. His father, Kamada Kinkar Mukherjee, also a Congress leader, actively contributed to India’s independence and faced imprisonment multiple times.
Pranab Mukherjee passed away on August 31, 2020, at Delhi’s Army Hospital (Research and Referral) Hospital, following surgery for a brain clot. Honored with the Bharat Ratna in 2019, Mukherjee’s legacy remains a significant part of India’s political and historical narrative.
