Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar at the VP’s residence on Wednesday following his resignation. This marks their first meeting post the Lok Sabha election outcome. VP Dhankhar gifted sweets and a bouquet to PM Modi, who is set to serve his third term in the Lok Sabha.

The delicacies presented to the Prime Minister included a “peda” from Chirawa in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu, VP Dhankhar’s hometown, and “gud” (jaggery) from Meerut, a prominent agricultural product from the area.

Earlier, PM Modi submitted his resignation along with his council of ministers to President Droupadi Murmu, initiating the dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha.

Following the Cabinet meeting, PM Modi is expected to take the oath for the third time on June 8 as part of the transition to the new government.

The Lok Sabha election results announced by the Election Commission of India revealed that BJP won 240 seats while Congress secured 99 seats. Compared to previous elections, BJP fell short of the majority mark by 32 seats, necessitating alliances for government formation.

In contrast, Congress showed significant progress, increasing its seats from 52 in 2019 to 99 this time. The Congress-led opposition coalition, INDIA bloc, surpassed expectations by securing over 230 seats.
