A viral video has emerged on social media showing a Pakistani airline pilot cleaning the windscreen of his aircraft just before takeoff. The footage features a Serene Air pilot leaning out of the plane’s side window to clear the view ahead.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred on an Airbus A330-200 operating an international flight between Pakistan and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Although it’s unusual for pilots to perform such tasks, the video has sparked discussions about airline safety procedures and the responsibilities of ground staff.

Pilots in Pakistan are Cleaning the glass of Plane
In reaction to the video, one user questioned, “Pilot h ya bus conductor (Is he a pilot or a bus conductor)?”
Another user remarked, “Pakistan being Pakistan,” while a third commented, “Hilarious, this could happen only in Pakistan.”
Some viewers suggested that this practice is not entirely uncommon. “Frankly, pilots do this. Not everyone, sometimes those who are not satisfied by windscreen cleaning,” one user wrote. Another added, “Pilots clean all the time.”
Pakistan’s economic situation remains challenging, having narrowly avoided default last year amid political instability, devastating 2022 monsoon floods, and long-standing mismanagement. The country received emergency loans from friendly nations and support from the IMF, yet it continues to grapple with high inflation and significant public debt. The new three-year IMF deal, pending approval by the Executive Board, aims to “cement macroeconomic stability and create conditions for stronger, more inclusive, and resilient growth,” according to a Friday statement.
