Baramulla district has left no stone unturned. In an update, it has been revealed that the police have taken robust measures to combat this issue, resulting in the registration of 177 cases against illegal mining of minerals and soil.
During the ongoing year, a staggering 459 individuals have been apprehended for their involvement in the extraction and transportation of minerals. Furthermore, as part of this drive, 458 vehicles utilized in the illegal transportation of minerals, including 210 tippers, 238 tractors, and 10 excavators, have been seized from various areas within the district.
Baramulla Police, in tandem with the Mineral Department, has imposed substantial fines, amounting to lakhs of rupees, as a consequence of their crackdown on the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals within the district. This stern approach is aimed at protecting the well-being of the people, preserving the ecological balance, and safeguarding the government’s revenue.
The police in Baramulla remain steadfast in their commitment to taking action against those who exploit the cover of night hours for illegal mineral extraction, a practice that not only compromises public health but also threatens the delicate ecological equilibrium and government revenue. The resolute efforts of the Baramulla Police underscore their dedication to upholding the law and safeguarding the welfare of the community.
