Haryana BJP-in-charge and former Rajasthan party chief Satish Poonia expressed confidence on Friday, stating that the public has chosen to elect a determined and forward-thinking government, highlighting the commendable work done by the Modi government at the Centre in this regard. Poonia criticized the Congress, asserting that the party was in a weak position and compelled to form alliances with smaller parties. He exercised his voting rights in Jaipur during the initial phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

“Our mission is NDA-400 seats, BJP-370 seats, with 25 seats targeted in Rajasthan. When I pressed the button, the sound of victory resonated. The people of Rajasthan and the country have made their decision because they desire a determined and visionary government. The Modi government has excelled in this regard. People wish for Modi ji to become Prime Minister for the third time,” Poonia remarked.

He added, “Congress is grappling with its own limitations; they were compelled to forge alliances with smaller parties. The INDIA bloc lacks a Prime Ministerial candidate. They have already lost half the battle in Rajasthan. Congress is unable to contest elections on 25 seats based on its own strength.”

Earlier, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma cast his vote at a polling booth in Jaipur during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, expressing confidence that the state would replicate the outcomes of the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections by securing victories for Bharatiya Janata Party candidates across all 25 Parliamentary constituencies.

During the preceding two elections in 2014 and 2019, the BJP and its allies emerged victorious in all 25 seats. Notably, in 2019, Hanuman Beniwal of the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party secured victory in the Nagaur seat with BJP’s support.

In the Jaipur City Lok Sabha constituency, the BJP has nominated Manju Sharma, while Pratap Singh Khachariyawas is representing the Congress. Over time, both Congress and BJP contestants have been elected from this constituency. Presently, the seat is held by Ramcharan Bohra of the BJP.

Rajasthan’s 25 parliamentary constituencies will vote in two phases, with 12 seats contested in the first phase on April 19 and the remaining 13 seats in the second phase on April 26. This Lok Sabha election, scheduled from April 19 to June 1, is poised to be the country’s second-longest polling exercise after the inaugural general election, which spanned over five months from September 1951 to February 1952. Vote counting is slated for June 4, following the conclusion of polling.
