Pedro Pascal, Karen Gillan, Maria Bakalova to star in pandemic-based comedy ‘The Bubble’

Washington [US], February 10 (ANI): Maria Bakalova, Karen Gillan, and Pedro Pascal are among the bold-faced names that are starring in Judd Apatow’s pandemic based comedy film, ‘The Bubble’.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Iris Apatow, Fred Armisen, David Duchovny, Keegan-Michael Key, Leslie Mann, and Peter Serafinowicz, are also set to star in ‘The Bubble’.
The feature project, which gets underway next week, is a meta-comedy that will be about a group of actors and actresses stuck inside a pandemic bubble at a hotel attempting to complete a studio franchise film.
The sources to The Hollywood Reporter told the outlet- the project takes inspiration from the real-life making of ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’, the sixth installment in the ‘Jurassic franchise’, which saw its cast stuck in the United Kingdom for months during the pandemic lockdown, with production stopping and restarting several times due to positive COVID-19 tests.
While many of the details are being kept in the hotel safe, it is known that Gillan and Pascal will play the made-up franchise’s stars while Mann and Duchovny will play a once-married acting duo now forced to quarantine under one roof.
Netflix insiders, however, say the movie has no connection to ‘Dominion’.
Apatow is directing from a script he co-wrote with Pam Brady.
The filmmaker is producing via his Apatow Productions banner, with long-time collaborator Barry Mendel, who most recently worked with Apatow on ‘The King of Staten Island’, set to executive produce. The project marks Apatow’s first undertaking away from his longtime home of Universal in over 15 years. (ANI)

Blake Shelton wants Adam Levine to perform at his and Gwen Stefani’s wedding

Washington [US], February 26 (ANI): Earlier, Popstar Miley Cyrus offered to be the singer for Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s upcoming wedding. Now, in a new interview with People magazine, Shelton rethought Cyrus’ offer and took aim at his fellow former “Voice” coach, Levine, in the process.
Fox News quoted the 44-year-old singer in an interview to People Magazine, saying, “Miley is one of the most talented singers I have ever met. She drives me crazy because she’s a lot like Kelly [Clarkson] in the way that they can burst out with this voice.”
“If I’m going to sing, I have to think about it and go warm up. It’s unfair,” the ‘Happy Anywhere’ singer lamented.
“Gwen was showing me that she even said, ‘I promise to be on my best behaviour. I’ve known Miley long enough [for her to have to say], ‘By the way, I’ll be nice when I get here.’ So that was nice of her,” Shelton continued.
Shelton then revealed that he would also like to see Levine’s band, Maroon 5, perform at the wedding, simply because it’ll “cost” the 41-year-old singer Levine.
“I don’t know what we’re going to do, but I still say Adam owes me a full-band performance with Maroon 5, mostly because I want it to cost him. I would rather have Miley as a human being,” Shelton humorously stated.
Per Fox News, earlier in the interview, Shelton reflected on his initial meetings with the 51-year-old songstress Stefani, when the ‘No Doubt’ vocalist joined the ‘Voice’ cast during season 7 — noting his surprise when he realised that Stefani drives a minivan.
“She had just had a baby [Apollo, with Gavin Rossdale], so there wasn’t even much of a friendship that first season. The thing I remember saying about her when people would ask was, ‘Oh my God, that girl is unbelievable. She drives a minivan to work!” I thought rock stars drove Rolls-Royces, and Gwen was driving a black minivan,” said the country crooner. (ANI)

Study reveals not all ‘good’ cholesterol is healthy

Published

on

By

Washington [US], February 26 (ANI): A study led by a team of researchers has now demonstrated that not all good cholesterol is healthy.
The study led by the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute (IMIM) was published in the journal Metabolism, Clinical and Experimental.
Although drugs that lower bad cholesterol reduces cardiovascular risk, those that raise good cholesterol have not proven effective in reducing the risk of heart disease. This paradox has called into question the relationship between good cholesterol and cardiovascular risk, and researchers are now studying the characteristics of the good cholesterol particles.
HDL cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein cholesterol) or good cholesterol is associated with a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease as it transports cholesterol deposited in the arteries to the liver to be eliminated. This contrasts with the so-called bad cholesterol, LDL (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol), which causes cholesterol to accumulate in the arteries and increases cardiovascular risk.
Researchers from the CIBER on Cardiovascular Diseases (CIBERCV), the CIBER on Obesity and Nutrition (CIBEROBN), and the CIBER on Epidemiology and Public Health (CIBERESP), as well as others from Hospital Clinic-IDIBAPS, IDIBELL, the Hospital de la Santa Creu I Sant Pau Research Institute, and the Hospital Clinico Universitario in Zaragoza also took part in this study.
In the work, the researchers analysed genetic characteristics that determine the size of good cholesterol particles, and then studied their relationship with the risk of myocardial infarction. The conclusion is that genetic characteristics linked to the generation of large-good cholesterol particles are directly associated with a higher risk of heart attack, while features linked to small good cholesterol particles are related to a lower risk of heart attack.
“There is a positive causal relationship between the size of HDL cholesterol particles and the risk of heart attack, so although we have to increase the levels of good cholesterol in the blood, they must always be small particles”, explained the study’s principal investigator, Dr Robert Elosua, a researcher at the Hospital del Mar-IMIM, CIBERCV, and the University of Vic-Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC).
The good cholesterol particles are more effective in transferring cholesterol to the liver so that it can be eliminated. “If we need to do something in relation to HDL, it is to increase the number of small particles, which are those that adequately perform the function of eliminating cholesterol, those that really move it to the liver for removal, and do not allow it to accumulate in the arteries and cause cardiovascular disease”, said Dr Alvaro Hernaez, a IDIBAPS and CIBEROBN researcher.
Currently, there are no drugs that increase good cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. “This study highlights new and potential therapeutic targets in the field of cardiovascular diseases, including several genes related to the qualitative aspects of HDL particles, which may contribute to cardiovascular prevention”, concluded Dr Albert Prats, a researcher in the Epidemiology and Cardiovascular Genetics Research Group at the Hospital del Mar-IMIM and first author of the study. Is Emma Watson retiring from acting? Actor’s manager refutes rumours

Published

By

Washington [US], February 26 (ANI): Actor Emma Watson, who rose to fame by playing Hermione Granger in the popular ‘Harry Potter’ franchise, has been recently making headlines after it was reported that the star has retired from acting. However, it seems like the rumour mills have got it all wrong.
As per Entertainment Weekly, the actor’s manager cleared the air, putting an end to all such reports doing the rounds. Her manager, Jason Weinberg, denied the rumours, telling the publication in a statement, “Emma’s social media accounts are dormant but her career isn’t.”
The 30-year-old star’s Instagram account bio currently reads, “Emma’s official Instagram page is currently dormant and is not being updated,” while her profile picture is a simple black icon.
The actor had started trending on Thursday after an online report by a leading outlet alleged that Watson had retired from acting, leaving her fans distressed.
The news hurt Watson’s fans who took to social media to remember her work. One fan claimed that her career didn’t get enough appreciation while another wrote, “She is one of my favs but it’s okay as long as she’s happy with her decision.”
“Emma Watson retiring is something very personal to me. No, I will not be getting over this,” tweeted another fan.
Watson was last seen in Greta Gerwig’s 2019 film ‘Little Women’ opposite Saorise Ronan, Florence Pugh, Timothee Chalamet, Laura Dern, and Meryl Streep. She also acted in the 2017 thriller drama ‘The Circle’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’, which released in the same year.

In November last year, she made a rare public outing with her boyfriend Leo Robinton in London while grabbing coffee and walking around the city’s Primrose Hill neighbourhood. Their outing came over a year after the two were first spotted together in October 2019.
Watson’s beau Robinton was first identified in April of this year and is a businessman from Los Angeles, though little else is known about him. He reportedly deleted all of his social media after photos of the two sharing a kiss surfaced last year.
The couple has rarely been seen together since, though they appear to be going strong based on the recent outing. (ANI)
